Physiotherapy at the Broadgate Spine & Joint Clinic is led by Chris McLean and Ian Dodson. The new gym enables our physiotherapists to carry out comprehensive training of both spinal problems and conditions involving the extremities (knees, shoulders, hips, etc.).

Christopher McLean MCSP SRP MAPA

Chris graduated from the University of Sydney, Australia in 1992 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy. He gained a Master of Science in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Wales Medical School and the University of Cardiff. Chris has developed an excellent reputation in the field of neuro-musculoskeletal rehabilitation and is renowned for his positive and proactive approach to the treatment and management of musculoskeletal disorders. He has vast experience in treating patients from all walks of life including professional sportspeople, Olympians, actors, dancers, weekend warriors, desk jockeys and senior citizens.

Chris is committed to ensuring his approach to patient care is delivered in a thorough, logical, and efficient manner. He is very experienced at managing both spinal and peripheral disorders. His recent research focused on the concept of "core stability" and reviewed the evidence behind the concept. This work led to him producing the first clinical guidelines for core stability training based on evidence. Chris is also a qualified Pilates instructor having studied at the Stott Pilates Training Centre in Toronto, Canada. His professional memberships include the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Australian Physiotherapy Association and the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine.

Ian Dodson MCSP SRP

Ian qualified from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2000 with a Bachelors Degree in Physiotherapy. He worked in private practice in New Zealand for 2 years and completed post-graduate qualifications in manipulative therapy and qualified as a credentialed McKenzie therapist. Ian also has experience with pilates based rehabilitation and kinetic control. He has worked with sports teams associated with football, rugby and cricket while working in NZ. Since coming to the UK, Ian has worked in both NHS and private practice. His special interest areas are spinal, surgical and sports rehabilitation and work-related upper limb disorders. Ian is qualified to use acupuncture and is a member of the AACP. He is registered with all major insurance companies.

Rebecca Dodson MCSP SRP

Rebecca qualified from the University of Otago (NZ) in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy with distinction. Since qualifying Rebecca has worked in both private practice and the NHS and has also had experience working with sports teams - in particular tennis, netball and rugby teams. She has gained post-graduate qualifications in Manual Therapy, Pilates, Kinetic Control and Acupuncture and is also a credentialed McKenzie Therapist.

As well as her passion for rehabilitating sports injuries and orthopaedic conditions Rebecca has a special interest in Women’s Health and Ante-natal / Post-natal Musculoskeletal complaints.

Rebecca is a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Exercise Therapy. She is registered with all major health insurance companies.

Follow-ups (30 min): £50
