What do Chiropractors treat?
Spinal Pain
The most common problems that chiropractors see are lower back pain (with or without radiating pain to the buttocks or legs (sciatica)), neck pain (with or without radiating pain to the arms), and upper mid-back pain. Treatment is both safe and effective.
Headaches
Headaches such as muscle tension headache, neck headaches, and certain forms of migraine can also be helped with chiropractic care, although results may differ from patient to patient.
Whiplash
Whiplash is commonly treated by chiropractors and is recommended by the International Society for the Study of Whiplash. Long term sufferers should not expect instant results.
If you have experienced a whiplash trauma you are advised to seek help quickly.
Peripheral Joint Problems
Different chiropractors have specific areas of interest and many chiropractors have developed excellent skills in treating problems in the knees, shoulders, feet and hands.
These problems are often treated successfully with chiropractic care but not all chiropractors have equivalent experience treating these conditions.
Paediatric Problems
Many chiropractors claim that they achieve excellent results treating a wide variety of conditions commonly experienced by infants and young children. Although this may indeed be the case the scientific literature in this area is sparse and it is recommended that any care given should be done so in conjunction with traditional medical treatment.
