Sports medicine is a highly specialised field of medicine that has undergone exceptional development during the past few years. Advances in diagnostic imaging, high quality clinical trials and changes to treatment strategies have revolutionised both treatment and results. At the Broadgate Spine & Joint Clinic our team is led by Dr Ian Beasley and Mr Peter Hamlyn, both nationally known experts in this area of medicine. The team also includes our physiotherapists, chiropractors, podiatrist and medical acupuncturist.

Mr Peter Hamlyn
Mr Peter Hamlyn is a Consultant and Neurological Spinal Surgeon to the St Bartholomew’s and Royal London NHS Trust. He is Vice-Chairman of the UK Brain and Spine Foundation.
Since 2002 he has been Director of the Sports and Exercise Medicine at the Queen Mary, University of London.
Mr Hamlyn has published extensively including both text books and scientific papers.
Mr Hamlyn was actively involved as a medical advisor for the successful London bid for the 2012 Olympics. Mr Hamlyn is a founding director of the Broadgate Spine & Joint Clinic.
Dr Courtney Kipps

Sports medicine doctors specialise in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic soft-tissue and bony musculoskeletal injuries. They can arrange rapid and appropriate investigations (such as MRI, ultrasound and xrays), perform joint injections and co-ordinate an integrated treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-exercise plan.
Dr Courtney Kipps is an honorary consultant in sport and exercise medicine at University College London Hospitals and principal clinical teaching fellow at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health at UCL where he is a co-lead on the MSc in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health programme.
Dr Kipps is the medical director of the London Triathlon, the Blenheim Triathlon and London’s Run To The Beat Half-marathon. He is also assistant medical director of the London Marathon and a club doctor for Harlequins Rugby Club in the Aviva Premiership.
